I’m proud to say I have been endorsed by no corrupt political organizations—no media, no unions, no Republicans or Democrats, no phony activists, not the Alki Foundation, the King County Municipal League or even the League of Women Voters. After I discovered how corrupt the Seattle media are during my first campaign for public office in 1999, I began boycotting all media endorsement interviews. (The wisdom of my choice became especially apparent during this campaign, when a reporter from The Stranger invited me to an endorsement interview AFTER he began secretly trashing me on his blog. See Strange and Stranger.) In fact, I generally boycott all endorsement interviews, period. This year, I made one exception, meeting with a local union out of curiosity. My former union, the Seattle Education Association, was a sorry sack of shit, and I wanted to learn if this other union is any better. Suffice it to say that they don’t give a rat’s ass about kids or democracy, either. Can’t
